When I hired someone last year to finally make a website for me (as I had the domain for literally years and kept putting off doing it myself), she encouraged me to make a few blog posts to help with SEO. I quickly wrote a few and she plugged them in for me.
But since the website went live, my life has changed a lot and I’m re-figuring out what I want to be doing and what I want my website to showcase. What I want to offer clients. (And who even are my “ideal clients.”) How I want to show up in the world. Some big questions that I still don’t entirely have answers to.
But one thought that kept coming to me is to blog about my experiences and insights, both professionally and personally.
Maybe starting a blog doesn’t make sense in an era when Substack seem to be all the rage. Why go back to an old-fashioned blog that really doesn’t even have a clear purpose or that isn’t going to necessarily help with SEO? Honestly… I’m not sure. But the idea keeps coming back to me (and I have always loved writing, even if I don’t do it as often as I used to when I was younger), so I’m doing it and finally starting it.
Another reason I’ve put off starting it is because I feel like I received a lot of programming as a therapist to be a “blank slate” and not share too much about my own life. But I know I have insight and wisdom to share. And I can’t keep cutting off parts of myself. It isn’t inherently unethical to share personal stuff. Though I’m a therapist, I still get to a be a human.
I don’t know entirely what will end up here. But I appreciate you being along for the ride.
